Location: The above jackal picture was taken at 5.43pm during an afternoon game drive while visiting Mashatu Game Reserve.

Mashatu,a private reserve run by the Rattray family, is situated in the Tuli Block area of Botswana between Zimbabwe to the north and South Africa to the south. There are a number of safari options for wildlife watchers and photography enthusiasts, including game drives, guided horse-trails and mountain biking.

Wildlife is abundant, specially the large herds of elephant for which the area is well known, while predators such as lions, leopards, hyenas and wild dogs can also usually be sighted.
