Camera: The photograph was taken with a Canon EOS film
camera and Canon EOS 80-200mm F2.8 lens, using transparency film scanned on a Nikon Coolscan.
Location: Tembe Elephant Park, covering 300 square km, is situated in Maputaland in northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The park was developed by
the Tembe Tribal Authority and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, the conservation body responsible for
running the wildlife reserves in the province.
Tembe was established in 1983 to protect elephants that for centuries migrated between Maputaland and
southern Mozambique. These elephants were traumatised by poaching during the civil war in Mozambique
so the park was only opened to the public in 1991. The park is now home to more than 200 elephants
which are believed to be the largest in the world.
