This Great White Egret had been wading in the marshy banks of the Chobe River in Botswana, hunting for fish and insects, before it leant forward, huge wings working, and gracefully took to the air. The photo clearly shows the distinctive kink in the middle of the long neck and the all-black legs and feet that are distinguishing features of this bird.
