Lioness crouching to drink from waterhole, Chobe National Park, Botswana Caption: Lioness (Panthera leo) keeps watching her surroundings as she crouches to drink from a waterhole, Chobe National Park, Botswana.

Location: Botswana's Chobe National Park is the second largest park in the country, covering a massive 10,566 square km. It stretches from the Linyanti and Chobe rivers in the north, through to Moremi Game Reserve in the south.

Chobe has one of the greatest concentrations of game on the African continent, including one of the world's largest elephant population, estimated to be around 120,000.

A highlight of any safari to Chobe should definitely be a late afternoon cruise down the Chobe River, watching huge herds of elephants and other game congregate along the water's edge as the setting sun bathes the water and surrounding bush in a luminous, golden glow.

Camera Equipment: The photograph was taken with a Canon EOS Elan film camera and Canon EOS 80-200mm F2.8 lens, using slide film scanned on a Nikon Coolscan V scanner.
