While strolling around the gardens in front of the main reception area at Satara Camp in the Kruger National Park, we heard a Scops Owl calling. Following the sound, we soon found the owl perched in a shady tree. It seemed fairly relaxed and unconcerned by the people wandering around, so we were able to get close enough for a good view. But it was awkward taking photos, with the owl in heavy shade and bright light behind. Although the Scops and Whitefaced owl both have ear tufts, the Scops is smaller and has a grey face.
