The sun was already low in the sky when I took this stock photo of a blackheaded heron at Tala Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The heron would peck around in the green grass, then scurry to a fresh spot in search of insects. Fortunately it did pause now and then, allowing me to grab a few shots. So I do have one or two alternative pictures, including a vertical one of the heron front-on, its head raised.
