This photo of a Grey Heron, standing erect in the early morning sun, was taken in the Kruger National Park after we'd stopped at a river crossing to watch a fascinating mixture of birds hunting for fish. The river had formed a shallow pool, apparantly trapping the fish, making them easy prey. Surrounding the heron, heads lowered and bills immersed, are Yellowbilled Storks and African Spoonbills. The photo is one of a number taken at this scene, so there are alternatives if you're looking for a different angle or perspective.
