We were lucky to spot this Whitefaced Owl while driving in the Kruger Park in the middle of the day. The owl was perched quite low down in the tangled branches of a thorn tree and it took some manoevering to get a clear view and unobstructed photos. Besides the distinctive orange eyes and prominent ear tufts, this bird has an unusually bushy "moustache" that nearly hides its bill.
